Before we get started with the Myanmar entry, allowed us to share with you guys out there on the Myanmar Visa Application that we did earlier right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Yes! Malaysian who are wishing to enter and travelling to Myanmar shall apply and obtain a valid visa even though Myanmar is one of the ASEAN countries. Visa exemption was only given and permitted to these 6 countries which is Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines and Vietnam for a visits up to 14 days. And again, surprisingly, Malaysia was not one of it.
But recently (somewhere early March this year), it was agreed that Malaysia Government Officers and Businessman who are on official assignment was given a visa exemption. And we really hope that Government to Government (G2G) co-operation and approach will be continued that visa exemption will be made possible to all Malaysian.
Since October 2013, Myanmar visa application has been outsourced by the Embassy to Ever Fine Services (M) Sdn Bhd located smack in the middle of Kuala Lumpur where it is just a breath away from Masjid Jamek LRT Station. To be exact, it is located right in front of the Mc’Donalds outlet and right on top of Killeney Kopitiam Hub and Happy Holiday Hotel. We were made to understand that Ever Fine is just taking in the application and visa will then be processed by the Embassy. For further details, check out the following address:

Spacious and very comfortable waiting area
There are several types of visa offered from tourist visa, business visa, multiple journey entry visa, social visit visa and meditation visa. And for our case, we are actually applying for tourist visa. A tourist visa allows a stay up to 3 months from the date of arrival. Application form can be downloaded here and form to be filled and signed off by applicants.
Others necessary documents required are:
- 2 copies of white colour background photo
- Original passport with at least 6 months validity
- A photocopy of passport
- A photocopy of IC
- Air ticket (return ticket) and travel itinerary
With all that in hands, you’re basically ready for the visa application.
We only waited for a few minutes before our number been called and everything was done just in 5 minutes. Very very smooth. Visa application charges are RM110 and another additional of RM30 per pax will be imposed for the processing / service fee. Visa will be ready within 1 working day. We were making jokes around that our visa charges are more expensive compared to our return airline ticket. 🙂
Oh ya, visa application shall be made right before 12.00pm if you want it to be ready on the same day and it can be collected from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. Or else, visa can be collected on next working day.
And with visa in hands, we are now ready to explore Myanmar! Here we go!
