Salamz everyone
This will be the 2nd part of my journey to Pekan Baru.
This mosque it actually a Great Mosque (Masjid Agung). Coincidence masa tue, there was a wedding mengikut budaya Riau but i miss the event. Except my mum and my sis yg kebetulan ke “Kamar Kecil”. Dengan selamba dan tanpa segan silu meminta kebenaran from the host nak jenguk-jenguk their wedding event. And what suprised me is that this mosque is equipped with a wi-fi services.
We then went to Dewan Kesenian Riau. All sort of houses yg ada kat Riau can be seen here. Besides, di sini jugalah tempat anak-anak muda Pekan Baru practice all their cultural and musical routine. And what exactly impressed me is that anak-anak muda Riau masih berpegang kuat kepada adat dan tradisi mereka. Bayangkanlah, our supir which is Mas Hendry masih mendengar lagu2 melayu lama on his car cd player.
Our next spot will be the Perpustakaan Provinsi Riau. Don’t mentioned about the architecture design here. Sangat superb and we have been told that perpustakaan ini antara yang “temegah” dan “tersohor” di Indonesia. The design was basically a shape of rehal and construction cost has been supported by the govt of Riau. Our supir told me that we are allowed to go in and it is open to the tourist as well. So happened that my aunt is the Ketua Pustakawan of the local uni and she then headed to the counter to meet up with the Pustakawan. Malangnya, kami diberitahu yang “Kepalanya” tidak ada kerana masih liburan. My aunt dropped her card and asked for a permission to walk in. While i was busy browsing around the library, a group of Bapak2 came and welcome us to the library. Dia tak sangka that a big uni from Malaysia will drop by. Rupa-rupanya, one of the staff terus call their boss and their boss terkejut and can’t wait to see and meet up with my aunt. Alih2, dapat VIP treatment la plak. Terus buat lawatan sambil belajar. What impressed me is the approached of the management of the library. The kids corner, mak aih! They can talk, shout, play, laying here and there. Cafe pun dalam library itself! Totally different from Malaysia. Nak masuk library pun takut. Senyap sunyi jek.
The famous Sungai Siak. This is the baked corn centre. Sepanjang-panjang sungai, the local people are selling jagung bakar. Pilih je la kedai mana yg nak. And the jagung bakar, sedap giler!
“Pengamen” aka pengemis yang ada di sekitar Pekan Baru. I can’t imagine macam mana budak ni boleh tido and the sunlight is directly to him. But afterall, it is lesser than in Jakarta, Bandung and Medan i guess.
